Is Honesty Really the Best Policy?

Source

My father was known for his honesty and he instilled that same belief into me. It didn’t matter what the situation was as long as you were honest. I remember getting so mad at him sometimes, but I knew that he was just being honest and if I looked deeper I would agree with him. I’ve always prided myself in the fact that I do not lie. I am not talking about those little fibs you have to make at holiday time about presents or whether or not the Tooth Fairy is real. I am talking about those times when you friend looks in your face and says, “be honest”. I’m the friend that you take shopping with you so that you don’t end up buying something that makes you look like a $2 hooker. I’m the friend that tells you I saw your boyfriend making out with someone else in the movie theater last Friday night. I’m the friend that says, “You’re wrong and you need to make it right.” Yeah…I’m that friend.

People love me for the same reason they hate me. They love me, because they can always count on me to tell them the truth no matter what. Those same people get upset with me, because I answer honestly when they ask the dreaded question, “What do you think?” Well if you don’t want to know then don’t ask. This is usually regarding relationships or a decision that they made. I’ve never proclaimed that I am always right, but if you ask what I think, then I’ll tell you. I say what everyone else is thinking, but is afraid to proclaim. This always leads to me being the bad guy and everyone else is off the hook. It kind of works out for them.

I have lost friendships and relationships for being honest…yeah. It sucks and sometimes I think I might change and just start telling people what they want to hear…just be like everyone else. Then I think, well daddy didn’t raise you to be like that and by changing that I would be changing myself to suit others. I wished people would just not ask me. If they know I am going to be honest and they really can’t handle it then don’t ask.

Vinegar Fixes Everything

Nothing to Disclose
Source

Vinegar has been a household name as far back as I can remember. My mom always had vinegar in the house for those occasions when we had Grandma Brown’s Baked Beans (it’s a northern thing) and cabbage which we only had with a boiled dinner. It was always the Apple Cider Vinegar. Now that I am grown and have a home of my own I find that vinegar is also a household necessity, but for different reasons. Don’t get me wrong we still have the occasional Grandma Brown’s Baked Beans and cabbage for dinner also…not together of course. We use vinegar almost daily in our household and I am amazed at all the uses there are for such a simple product. I am constantly discovering new things that it can be used for. I think vinegar can fix just about anything!

I decided to populate a list of things that I know vinegar can be used for, whether I have seen someone use it, I’ve used it, or I’ve heard someone say t can be used for. I mainly use or have used vinegar for the following:

  • coloring eggs
  • baking
  • getting nasty odors out of clothing or rugs
  • pet odor remover
  • combined with baking soda it can be a compress for bee stings
  • sunburns
  • keeps cats from scratching

Now I am sure I am leaving something out, but that is what I can think of off the top of my head…there are so many other ways you can use vinegar that I have recently discovered. Don’t pick on me because I am slow…LOL

Did you know you could use vinegar for:

  • cleaning your bathroom of soap scum
  • cleaning your toilet
  • cleaning your cutting boards (even wood)
  • getting rid of fruit fly’s
  • sprinkling in your flower beds to keep animals out and to enhance your soil
  • washing dishes

I am sure there are many more things it can be used for, but what I have discovered is that it is a natural all around disinfectant. It brings things back to life. I know some people add orange peels or scents to make it smell nicer, but after a few minutes the vinegar smell goes away. I think it’s amazing that this simple ingredient that most households have can do the job of several expensive and toxic items that are in your home. Who needs $6 toilet bowl cleaner when you have $3 vinegar?
